Maine Marijuana Sales Reach Nearly $120 Million in First Half of 2026, With June Sales Topping $20.6 Million

Maine’s adult-use marijuana market brought in $20,688,125 in June, keeping sales nearly identical to June 2025 despite a notable drop in prices.

According to data from the Maine Office of Cannabis Policy, licensed retailers recorded 425,839 transactions in June, with the average price per gram of marijuana flower at $6.04. The June total is just slightly below the roughly $20.76 million sold in June 2025, a difference of less than 0.4%.

The steady year-over-year sales come even as prices continue to fall. In June, the average price per gram was $6.04, down from $6.67 in June 2025, a decline of around 9.4%. Despite that drop, monthly sales remained nearly unchanged from the same period last year.

Through the first six months of 2026, Maine marijuana retailers have sold $119,954,243 worth of products across 2,439,812 transactions. The year-to-date average price per gram is $6.10.

The figures indicate that consumer demand has remained strong even as prices have declined, with lower prices likely helping offset reduced per-gram revenue. June marks another month above $20 million for the state’s adult-use market, which has continued to produce consistent monthly sales several years after launch.

Maine voters approved adult-use marijuana legalization in 2016, though retail sales did not begin until October 9, 2020. Adults 21 and older may possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana, or a combination of marijuana and concentrate that includes no more than 10 grams of concentrate. The state also allows adults to grow up to six mature plants, 12 immature plants and an unlimited number of seedlings for personal use. Adult-use marijuana sales are subject to a 14% state sales tax as of 2026, while medical marijuana is generally taxed at 5.5%, with prepared food containing medical marijuana taxed at 8%.
