Cannabix Delivers Marijuana Breath Test Devices to Omega Laboratories

Cannabix Technologies has delivered multiple marijuana breath testing devices to Omega Laboratories in Ohio, a move that marks the start of commercial rollout efforts for the technology.

The delivery includes Cannabix’s Breath Collection Units and Breath Cartridges, which are designed to capture and preserve breath samples for laboratory analysis. Unlike urine, blood or saliva testing, which can show cannabis use days or even weeks later, Cannabix’s system is intended to detect more recent marijuana use by targeting delta-9 THC, the psychoactive component of cannabis.

Omega Laboratories, an established leader in drug testing with more than two decades of experience, will integrate the devices into its accredited testing framework. The initial shipment includes several collection units and 200 cartridges, which will be used with Omega’s validated laboratory-developed testing method. That method was assessed earlier this year under ISO/IEC 17025 standards.

The two companies say they will begin by introducing the breath test with select clients before scaling up production and distribution. The partnership also covers joint work on manufacturing, logistics, marketing, and customer support.

Cannabix, based in Vancouver, develops marijuana and alcohol breathalyzer technology for law enforcement, workplaces, and other organizations. The company says its devices are designed to provide a more accurate picture of whether someone has recently consumed marijuana, a key consideration in impairment testing.
