Connecticut’s marijuana market posted another strong month of sales in November, with state regulators reporting $18,425,649 in adult-use sales and $5,496,565 in medical purchases.
Combined, retailers took in $23,922,214 for the month. The new total pushes Connecticut’s year-to-date marijuana revenue to $257,872,131.
The continued climb comes even as retail prices reach historic lows.
According to the Department of Consumer Protection, the average price for a gram of dried marijuana fell to $7.94 in November—an all-time low for the state and the first time the average has dropped below $8. Just one year ago, consumers were paying roughly $11 per gram on average.
Despite the sustained price decline, adult-use purchasing continues to rise, now making up the clear majority of monthly sales. Medical patients account for the remainder, with both markets combined keeping Connecticut on track for another record-setting year.
Connecticut legalized marijuana in 2021, with retail sales launching in January 2023. Adults 21 and older may purchase and possess up to 1.5 ounces in public and store up to five ounces at home. Recreational transactions are taxed at the state’s 6.35% sales tax rate in addition to a potency-based excise tax, while medical sales remain untaxed.
