Kentucky’s medical marijuana market has expanded to 22 operating dispensaries following the opening of a new Green Releaf location in Richmond.
The dispensary opened Friday, August 14 at 212 Wayne Drive, according to the Kentucky Medical Cannabis Program, which now lists 22 dispensaries as open and operating statewide. The Richmond license is held by Ace 4 Target LLC, with the location operating as Green Releaf.
The Richmond store is Green Releaf’s third medical marijuana dispensary in Kentucky, joining existing locations in Ferguson and Elizabethtown. Green Releaf lists the Richmond location as open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
A larger grand opening celebration is expected to be held in the coming weeks.
Kentucky legalized medical marijuana under legislation signed in 2023, with the law taking effect January 1, 2025. The state’s retail network has expanded significantly during 2026, with Lexington’s Speakeasy Dispensary opening January 15 and additional locations coming online throughout the year. Richmond is the latest, opening just eight days after a Speakeasy location launched in Stanford.

Additional licensed dispensaries remain in development across Kentucky, meaning the number of operating locations is expected to continue increasing as more businesses complete the steps required to begin serving registered patients.
