Green Thumb Industries Authorizes $50 Million Share Buyback Program

Green Thumb Industries has authorized the continuation of its share repurchase program for another 12 months, making up to $50 million available for additional stock buybacks.

The Chicago-based marijuana company [announced](https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2026/09/21/3365346/0/en/green-thumb-industries-announces-50-million-share-repurchase-program.html) Monday that its board of directors approved the program, which will allow Green Thumb to repurchase subordinate voting shares beginning September 23 and continuing through September 22, 2027.

Since launching its first repurchase program in September 2023, Green Thumb says it has bought back the equivalent of approximately 29.5 million shares for $203.4 million. More than $80 million of those repurchases occurred in 2026.

“Since launching our first repurchase program in 2023, we have returned more than $200 million to shareholders through share buybacks,” said Green Thumb Founder, Chairman and CEO Ben Kovler.

Kovler said extending the program gives the company flexibility to purchase shares when management believes market conditions make doing so attractive, while continuing to consider other uses of capital, including organic growth and mergers and acquisitions.

Green Thumb is not required to spend the full $50 million and may suspend or terminate repurchases at any time. The company said it does not expect to take on debt to finance the program.

Shares may be purchased on the Canadian Securities Exchange, the OTCQX Best Market or alternative trading systems, subject to U.S. and Canadian securities regulations. Any shares acquired through the program will be returned to the company’s treasury and canceled.

Green Thumb reported $283.6 million in cash and cash equivalents as of June 30. During the second quarter alone, the company [repurchased](https://investors.gtigrows.com/news-releases/news-release-details/green-thumb-industries-reports-second-quarter-2026-results) approximately 7.9 million shares for $48.3 million, at an average price of $6.11 per share.

Green Thumb operates RISE Dispensaries and marijuana brands including RYTHM, Dogwalkers, incredibles, &Shine, Doctor Solomon’s and Good Green across 14 U.S. markets.
