Ohio’s legal marijuana market has now generated nearly $4.3 billion in sales, with an estimated $914 million coming during 2026 so far, according to newly updated state data.
The Ohio Division of Cannabis Control reported September 17 that total product sales have reached $4,289,495,488 through September 5. That includes $1,868,032,447 in non-medical, or adult-use, sales and $2,421,461,131 in medical marijuana sales.
The state does not provide a separate calendar-year total for 2026, but an analysis of historical data indicates Ohio has generated approximately $914.3 million in combined medical and adult-use marijuana sales through September 5.
Of that amount, roughly $785 million came from adult-use purchases and about $129 million from medical marijuana patients, meaning adult-use sales have accounted for approximately 86% of the market this year.
Adult-use sales have also grown to about 44% of all marijuana sales recorded in Ohio since the medical market launched in January 2019, despite recreational sales not beginning until August 6, 2024.
The latest state report shows dispensaries have completed nearly 50 million transactions over the life of the programs. Consumers have purchased more than 661,000 pounds of marijuana plant material and approximately 71.5 million units of manufactured products.
Ohio currently has 228 dual-use dispensaries with certificates of operation, along with 50 dispensaries holding provisional licenses. The state also lists 39 operating cultivators, 46 processors and seven testing laboratories.
