Trulieve Cannabis Corp. has entered into a perpetual, royalty-free licensing agreement giving the company exclusive rights to produce and sell Alien Labs and Connected marijuana products in Florida and Texas.
Trulieve announced the agreement Monday, saying it covers Connected’s genetics, trademarks and proprietary production knowledge for both brands.
Under the master licensing agreement, Trulieve receives exclusive rights to cultivate, manufacture and commercialize Alien Labs and Connected products in the two states while adhering to Connected’s quality standards, genetic offerings and brand protocols.
The agreement also gives Trulieve an opportunity to negotiate licensing rights in additional markets as the company expands.
Trulieve has been the exclusive provider of Alien Labs and Connected products in Florida since 2022. CEO Kim Rivers said the new agreement will allow the company to expand those brands into additional product categories and form factors in the state.
“Pending final licensure and regulatory approvals, we plan to introduce Alien Labs and Connected branded products in Texas,” Rivers said.
The companies also plan collaborative marketing campaigns supporting the two brands.
Connected founder and CEO Caleb Counts said the existing Florida arrangement has become one of the company’s most successful licensing relationships.
“Trulieve’s platform has given Florida patients access to Alien Labs and Connected genetics developed through our proprietary breeding program,” Counts said. “We’re excited to build on that in Florida and to bring these products to patients in Texas as the next phase of this partnership.”
Trulieve operates medical marijuana businesses in Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker TRLV.
Neither company disclosed a financial value for the licensing agreement.
