Maryland’s legal marijuana market has generated $917.23 million in sales through September 2026, an increase of approximately 5% compared to the same nine-month period in 2025, according to the latest data from the Maryland Cannabis Administration.
The total represents an increase of roughly $44 million from the approximately $873 million sold between January and September 2025. The figures include both recreational and medical marijuana purchases.
According to the state’s updated sales dashboard, September sales reached approximately $101.5 million, up from $93.7 million in September 2025, an increase of about 8.3%. Although September’s total was slightly below the $105.2 million recorded in August, it marked the seventh consecutive month with sales exceeding $100 million.
July remains the strongest month of 2026, with approximately $109 million in combined sales. May followed with $105.6 million, while August generated $105.2 million. Even February, the year’s slowest month, recorded more than $92 million.
The dashboard also shows a year-to-date median marijuana price of $7.68 per gram. Median spending among medical marijuana patients stands at $1,196.86 for the year, while registered caregivers have a median spending total of $370.79.
Maryland’s market is now positioned to surpass its 2025 annual sales total of approximately $1.174 billion. To exceed that figure, licensed retailers would need to generate roughly $257 million during the final three months of 2026, considerably less than the approximately $300 million recorded during the final quarter of 2025.
Maryland voters approved recreational marijuana legalization in November 2022, with licensed adult-use sales beginning in July 2023. Recreational purchases are subject to a 12% state sales tax, while medical marijuana purchases remain exempt.
