A marijuana product marketed as “odourless” is now stocked, ordered or being added by more than 300 licensed retailers across Ontario, just months after launching in the province.
CannabCo Pharmaceutical Corp. announced the milestone October 1 for its Odourless OG pre-rolls, which debuted in Ontario in June.
The product is sold as packages of five 0.5-gram pre-rolls with THC levels approaching 32%. It is distributed to licensed retailers through the Ontario Cannabis Store’s Flow-Through program.
CannabCo says the marijuana is produced using selective breeding and cultivation practices intended to substantially reduce the characteristic smell associated with marijuana during storage and consumption. Despite the “Odourless” branding, the company describes the product as having significantly reduced odor rather than literally producing no smell.
The company says there are no added fragrances or odor-masking agents.
According to CannabCo, independent comparative testing conducted by odor-testing company Scentroid found the product generated substantially less measured odor than conventional marijuana under controlled conditions, including during combustion.
The company first drew attention to its odor-reduced marijuana technology in 2019, years before the product reached Ontario’s recreational market.
CannabCo said the current rollout includes individual stores operating under banners including Spiritleaf, True North Cannabis Co., Discounted Cannabis, FIKA, One Plant, Tokyo Smoke, HighLife Cannabis and Sessions Cannabis, along with smaller chains and independent retailers. The company emphasized that the participation does not represent chain-wide endorsements from those brands.
Existing retailers have also begun placing repeat orders, according to CannabCo, while additional locations continue to add the product.
CannabCo says retailers have reported customers specifically asking for lower-odor marijuana, potentially giving the product a niche among consumers seeking greater discretion, particularly in apartments, condominiums and other shared environments.
The company is now preparing to pursue distribution in additional Canadian provinces, although expansion will depend on regulatory approvals, provincial product listings, production capacity and distribution agreements.
CannabCo said reaching more than 300 Ontario locations provides early evidence of commercial demand for marijuana designed specifically to produce less noticeable odor.
