Ohio’s marijuana laws allow those 21 and older to possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana and 15 grams of marijuana concentrates. Medical marijuana patients may carry a 90-day supply, which includes up to eight ounces of dried marijuana and 26.55 grams of concentrates. Both the medical and recreational markets are regulated by the Ohio Division of Cannabis Control.

Recreational marijuana purchases are taxed at a 10% excise rate on the retail price, in addition to Ohio’s 5.75% state sales tax. Local jurisdictions can add sales taxes, typically ranging from 0.25% to 2.25%. Medical marijuana patients are subject only to the 5.75% state sales tax and are not required to pay the excise tax.
