Missouri Marijuana Sales Reach $129.66 Million in July, Year-to-Date Total Hits $883 Million

Missouri marijuana retailers recorded $129.66 million in sales during July, according to data from the Department of Health and Senior Services.

Of that total, $114.91 million came from adult-use purchases and $14.75 million from medical marijuana sales.

The July numbers bring Missouri’s year-to-date marijuana sales for 2025 to approximately $883.41 million, with the vast majority—over $700 million—coming from the recreational market.

Since the state launched medical marijuana sales in 2020 and adult-use sales in February 2023, total sales have now reached $4.287 billion. Recreational purchases account for nearly 90% of monthly totals in recent months.

Missouri voters approved a constitutional amendment to legalize recreational marijuana in November 2022, and sales began just three months later, one of the fastest rollouts in the nation. Recreational sales are taxed at 6% in addition to state and local sales taxes, while medical marijuana is exempt from the excise tax.

Tax revenue from marijuana sales has surpassed $400 million since legalization, supporting public health programs, veterans’ services and substance abuse treatment initiatives.
