Missouri’s legal marijuana market generated $124.77 million in combined sales in November, pushing year-to-date revenue for 2025 to nearly $1.4 billion and keeping the state well ahead of last year’s pace.
New figures from the Department of Health and Senior Services show that adult-use purchases accounted for $111 million of November’s total, once again making up the overwhelming majority of sales. Medical marijuana contributed an additional $13.77 million, reflecting relatively steady patient demand even as recreational sales continue to dominate the market.
With November included, marijuana sales for the year are now approaching $1.4 billion, surpassing the $1.26 billion recorded during the same period in 2024. The comparison underscores continued growth in Missouri’s regulated market, even though prices have dropped slightly from 2024.
Adult-use marijuana sales in Missouri are subject to a 6% state excise tax, in addition to the state’s 4.225% general sales tax. Applied to nearly $1.4 billion in marijuana sales so far this year, the excise tax would account for roughly $84 million in revenue. The state sales tax would add approximately $59 million more, bringing the combined state-level total to about $143 million so far in 2025, not including any local taxes.
