Legal Cannabis Sales in U.S. Pass $2.3 Billion in December, $27 Billion in 2025

According to an analysis of state sales data conducted by The Marijuana Herald, legal marijuana sales across the United States passed $2.3 Billion in December, bringing 2025’s total to $27 billion.

Sales in December were slightly higher than the $2.2 billion sold in November, and are on par with the $2.34 billion sold in October. The figures are drawn from monthly sales reports issued by state marijuana regulators and commissions, along with market research from Headset when state data isn’t available.

The analysis covered activity in 22 states with active adult-use marijuana markets, as well as four of the largest medical-only states. Minnesota is excluded because sales data has not yet been released, while Virginia is omitted because it remains the only state with legal marijuana that has not allowed licensed sales to begin.

Below is a state-by-state breakdown of December’s legal cannabis sales.
