Pennsylvania Has Nearly 439,000 Active Medical Marijuana Patients, 196 Dispensaries and 1,937 Approved Practitioners

Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana program had 438,727 active patient certifications, 196 operational dispensaries and 1,937 approved practitioners, according to the newest data from the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The department also reported 1,129,606 program-to-date patient registrations, representing everyone who has registered since the program began rather than only those with an active certification.

Compared with the same point last year, the number of dispensaries and approved practitioners increased slightly, while active patient certifications declined modestly.

As of June 1, 2025, Pennsylvania had 441,530 active patient certifications, 193 operational dispensaries and 1,905 approved practitioners. That means active certifications decreased by 2,803, or approximately 0.6%, over the following 12 months.

During the same period, the number of operational dispensaries increased by three, or 1.6%, while the number of approved practitioners increased by 32, or 1.7%.

Total medical cannabis sales have reached nearly $1 billion so far in 2026.
