The AdvisorShares Pure US Cannabis ETF (MSOS) was recognized at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on Monday, with portfolio manager Dan Ahrens ringing the opening bell.
The NYSE welcomed AdvisorShares to its New York City trading floor specifically to recognize MSOS, one of the most prominent investment funds focused on the U.S. marijuana industry. Ahrens, AdvisorShares managing director and portfolio manager, rang the bell to open trading.
MSOS launched on September 1, 2020, and trades on NYSE Arca. AdvisorShares describes it as the first actively managed U.S.-listed exchange-traded fund dedicated exclusively to U.S. cannabis companies, including multistate operators.
The fund had approximately $875.9 million in assets under management as of August 7, with more than 200 million shares outstanding. Its closing price on Friday was $4.38.
MSOS provides investors exposure to many of the country’s largest marijuana operators. As of August 7, Curaleaf represented 28.7% of the portfolio, followed by Trulieve Cannabis at 27.09% and Green Thumb Industries at 18.81%. Glass House Brands accounted for 8.53%, Verano Holdings for 5.93% and Cresco Labs for 4.53%.
Other companies represented in the fund include TerrAscend, Jushi Holdings, C21 Investments, Vireo Growth, Village Farms International, Ascend Wellness Holdings and Planet 13.
The NYSE later shared video of the ceremony, noting that AdvisorShares was being recognized for its Pure US Cannabis ETF (MSOS).
