The New York Cannabis Control Board approved 19 new adult-use marijuana licenses today, bringing the total number issued statewide to 2,342.
The approvals include two cultivator licenses, three distributor licenses, two microbusiness licenses, six processor licenses, including three branding licenses, six adult-use retail dispensary licenses and one Conditional Adult-Use Retail Dispensary (CAURD) license.
With the latest approvals, New York has now issued 277 cultivator licenses, 251 distributor licenses, 330 microbusiness licenses, 580 processor licenses, 543 adult-use retail dispensary licenses and 361 CAURD licenses. The previous statewide total was 2,322 following the approval of 25 licenses at the board’s August meeting.
Among the businesses receiving licenses are cultivators Enzo Farms LLC and Timothy J. Spoonhower, microbusinesses FMH Consulting Inc. and Emily Kyle Nutrition LLC, and retailers Empire THC Distributing LLC, 5306 Mart Inc., Empire Park Consulting LLC, Deux Familles LLC, Apple Egg LLC and Open Dove LLC. The Premium Bud LLC received the CAURD license.
Several of the retail approvals came despite objections from local governments or community boards.
The Village of Ossining raised concerns about the proposed 5306 Mart dispensary, including the number of dispensaries already operating in the area. Regulators determined the location complied with state proximity requirements and that the concerns did not warrant denying the application.
Queens Community Board 9 recommended denying Open Dove LLC’s proposed Richmond Hill dispensary, citing concerns that included its proximity to schools and a public library. The board determined the location complied with state requirements and approved the license. Staten Island Community Board 2 also opposed the Empire Park Consulting application, but regulators ultimately approved it.
The Cannabis Control Board oversees licensing and regulations for New York’s adult-use marijuana market. The state’s official Buy Legal directory currently lists 717 adult-use dispensaries across New York.
