Connecticut: $22.7 Million in Legal Marijuana Sold in May

There was over $22 million in legal marijuana sold in May in Connecticut, a new monthly record for the state.

In May Connecticut marijuana stores sold $22,774,710 in marijuana and marijuana products including dried flower, concentrates (oils, hash, etc.), edibles, topicals and other items like tinctures. The $22.7 million in the most legal marijuana sold in a single month since the start of legal sales.

$11.5 million of the $22.7 million was sold to recreational consumers, with $11.2 million being sold to registered medical marijuana patients.

The $22.7 million sold is a little over $1 million more than the $21.6 million sold in April. In February, the first month of legal recreational marijuana sales, there was $18 million sold.

The year-to-date total for Connecticut is now almost $100 million.

Connecticut’s recreational marijuana law was passed in 2021, with the first marijuana store opening in January of this year. Under the law those 21 and older can possess up to 1.5 ounces of marijuana which they can purchase from a licensed marijuana retail outlet. They can also grow up to six plants for personal use.
