New figures from the Florida Division of Elections show Smart & Safe Florida has reached 760,002 verified signatures for its proposed constitutional amendment to legalize recreational marijuana in 2026.
That total is nearly 50,000 higher than what was reported just three days ago, reflecting a sharp jump in signature validation as the campaign closes in on the 880,062 threshold needed to secure a spot on the November 2026 ballot. With the February 1 deadline looming, the verification pace has noticeably accelerated.
If approved by voters, the amendment would update Article X, Section 29 of the Florida Constitution to allow adults 21 and older to legally buy, possess, and use marijuana for non-medical purposes. Individuals would be allowed to possess up to 2.5 ounces of marijuana, 8 grams of concentrate, and related paraphernalia. Restrictions on marketing to children, public smoking and vaping, and impaired driving would remain in place.
The proposal would also allow currently licensed Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers to participate in the adult-use market while establishing a structure for licensing additional non-medical marijuana operators.
Campaign organizers previously said they gathered over one million raw signatures, suggesting tens of thousands more may still be in the pipeline for review.
