Maryland Cannabis Administration Opens Registration for October 10 Cannabis Industry Workforce Conference and Job Fair

The Maryland Cannabis Administration has opened registration for an October conference designed to connect current and prospective marijuana industry workers with employers across the state.

The Cannabis Industry Workforce Development Conference will be held October 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maryland Innovation Center in Columbia. Registration is required and must be completed by September 30, with the agency warning that space is limited.

The event will include professional development workshops, networking opportunities and a job fair featuring businesses operating throughout Maryland’s regulated marijuana industry.

According to the administration, representatives from licensed cultivation, processing and dispensary businesses, along with ancillary companies, are expected to participate. Employers will be able to accept resumes and conduct preliminary interviews with attendees during the event.

Workshops will focus on workplace expectations, career advancement and other topics intended to help participants prepare for employment in the industry. Regulators are encouraging attendees seeking work to bring multiple copies of their resume, dress in business or business-casual attire and be prepared to discuss their training, skills and career objectives.

The conference is part of the Maryland Cannabis Administration’s broader workforce development efforts, which include a virtual academy and professional certification program. The state’s training programs cover areas including cultivation, processing, dispensary operations, occupational safety, product testing and regulatory compliance.

The administration has also been surveying workers about conditions and needs across Maryland’s marijuana cultivation, processing and retail sectors.
