Over 45k Signatures Collected on Idaho Medical Cannabis Initiative

The Natural Medicine Alliance of Idaho (NMAI) announced today that it has collected more than 45,000 signatures toward qualifying the Idaho Medical Cannabis Act for the November 2026 ballot. As signature collection continues to rise week over week, the initiative is closing the gap to put the choice for medical cannabis access in the hands of voters.

To appear on the November 2026 ballot, the Idaho Medical Cannabis Act must secure signatures from at least six percent of registered voters statewide, based on the last general election, by April 30. Signatures must be collected in-person from at least 18 of Idaho’s 35 legislative districts and represent at least 6 percent of each district’s voters. To meet these criteria, NMAI signature gatherers can be found across the state knocking on doors, in high-traffic areas, attending events, and more to remain accessible for voters to sign their support.

“Idahoans are excited to finally have the chance to bring non-addictive, natural medical treatment alternatives to patients here at home,” said Amanda Watson, communications lead for the Natural Medicine Alliance of Idaho. “With Idaho being one of just four states where cannabis is fully illegal, these numbers indicate that voters are ready for change.”

A survey commissioned by NMAI showed 83% of likely voters statewide and 74% of Republican voters favor legalizing medical cannabis. As more Idahoans sign up as canvassers, signature-gathering efforts are scaling rapidly to meet existing public support.

The Natural Medicine Alliance of Idaho proposed the Idaho Medical Cannabis Act to create access to safe, carefully managed, natural medicine for those seeking relief for conditions such as chronic pain, cancer, PTSD, and other severe ailments. The act would allow physician-guided treatment for patients who have exhausted other conventional avenues while requiring strict oversight for all dispensing, storing, distributing, and selling of medical cannabis. The full measure language can be found on the NMAI website at www.naturalmedicinealliance.com/about.
